Nine O’Clock. She tells him before the wine arrives that she has to leave at nine. At 8:47 he asks for the bill without teasing her, bargaining for another drink or acting wounded. She looks at him differently after that. The second date begins there.
The Body Is Not a Before Picture. A man says he likes her stomach and she asks which one. They both laugh, then neither does. He puts his hand there anyway.
